Students Present at 2015 Louisiana Counseling Association Conference

Please congratulate the following students for their hard work and representation of Loyola's Counseling Department at the annual Louisiana Counseling Association conference. 

  • Female Child Sexual Offenders: An Adlerian Conceptualization Devin Leivo, B.S., B.A., Masters Candidate, Loyola University This session will present information about female child sexual offenders and their victims, briefly outline Adlerian tenets, provide an Adlerian conceptualization females who sexually victimize children, and suggest treatments. 
  •  Acceptance and Commitment Group Therapy for Male Veterans with PTSD Laura Pignato, B.A., B.S., Masters Candidate, Loyola Lynsey Hinnenkamp, B.S. Masters Candidate, Loyola Acceptance and Commitment therapy offers an innovative solution for male veterans with PTSD by targeting emotional avoidance and increasing psychological flexibility through emotional tolerance in a group modality.
  • The Role of Disabling Sports Injuries in Substance Abuse Molly Holmes, Masters Candidate, Loyola University Caitlin Bach, Masters Candidate Loyola University This presentation will examine the potential correlations between disabling sports injuries, identity and drug and alcohol abuse in adolescent and young adult males.
  • Experiential Family Therapy Groups for Girls Xenia Hatzilias, B.S., Masters Candidate, Loyola University Sarah Finney, B.S., Masters Candidate, Loyola University This session will offer a 12-week group for adolescent females suffering from low esteem. The groups will utilize Experiential Family Therapy through Virginia Satir’s work and will focus on building selfesteem.
