Tuition, Fees, and Financial Aid

Tuition and Fees

Because of the Jesuit commitment to spreading the gospel and training leaders, all LIM students receive a substantial discount off the regular Loyola University graduate tuition rate.

All students are assessed tuition and fees on a per course basis. Courses taken for graduate credit hours (crs) follow the current graduate tuition rate at LIM, while courses taken for continuing education credit (ceus) follow the current ceu tuition rate at LIM.

The University reserves the right to change tuition, fees, or other charges over the course of a student’s enrollment.

Online

Current tuition and fee schedules for master's degrees, post-master's certificates, and graduate credit ceritficates are available under the Graduate + Doctoral section of the Office of Student Finance website. Current tuition for the continuing education certificates, including the advanced continuing education certificate, is $135 per CEU ($405 per course). Online students pay certain university fees, such as the information technology fee and certain other university fees, including those for graduation and returned checks.

On Campus

Current tuition and fee schedules for master's degrees, post-master's certificates, and graduate credit ceritficates are available under the Graduate + Doctoral section of the Office of Student Finance website. Students pursuing the dual degree in Pastoral Studies and Counseling (MPS/MS) may take 6 credit hours in the Counseling Department at the Institute for Ministry tuition rate. Current tuition for the continuing education certificates, including the advanced continuing education certificate, is $135 per CEU ($405 per course). On-campus students pay certain other university fees, such as student government and university center fees as well as fees charged for graduation and returned checks. For students enrolled in dual-degree programs, tuition for MPS courses is charged at the LIM rate, and tuition for business, counseling, or criminal justice is charged according to the responsible department or school's rate.

Extension

Current tuition schedules are available through the local sponsoring agency liaison. For LIM extension students, an additional discount is applied to the graduate tuition because of the in-kind services provided by the local sponsoring agency. Extension program students are exempt from most university fees, such as student government and university center fees. There are, however, fees charged for graduation and returned checks. Some dioceses and other sponsoring agencies charge a modest fee to help defray administrative costs in the local area. Payment of this fee is not required by nor shared with the Institute and in no way affects a student's academic status in the program. However, students are encouraged to pay such a fee to assist in the local operation of the program.

Financial Aid

U.S. students may be eligible for a Lifetime Learning Tax Credit. This tax credit was designed to help students acquire or improve job skills. Part-time students may apply. This is a tax credit equal to 20 percent of the first $5,000 of qualifying tuition paid or $1,000 maximum per family. Consult your tax advisor for complete details, and see the Office of Student Finance for more information.

Students are also encouraged to seek out private scholarships, such as ones available through professional ministerial organizations of which they are a member, such as the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, and which offer member scholarships. Visit the Student Financial Services page for more information on aid, your bil, and payments.

Online

LIM online students enrolling in 5 or more credit hours per semester are eligible for federal student financial aid; for further information, please contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

On Campus

Because Loyola offers substantial LIM tuition discounts, only a very limited number of partial tuition scholarships are available from LIM for on-campus students who work for the Archdiocese of New Orleans or who are involved in volunteer ministry in parshes or institutions associated with the Archdiocese of New Orleans. LIM on-campus students enrolling in 5 or more credit hours per semester are eligible for federal student financial aid; for further information, please contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

Extension

Because Loyola offers substantial tuition discounts, additional university scholarships and grants are not available. LIM extension students are not eligible for federal student financial aid because of the part-time nature of the program.
