On Campus Program Frequently Asked Questions

What degrees are available through the Loyola Institute for Ministry?

The Institute has five master’s degree options, graduate certificates, and continuing education options. Please visit our programs of study page for a complete list.

Why should I earn my master’s degree from the Institute for Ministry?

The Institute has over 40 years of experience in preparing adults to serve in ministry positions in their parishes, dioceses, and secular workplaces. The strength of our program is the intentional learning community and its ongoing invitation to disciplined conversation.

Why New Orleans?

Our internationally-renowned faculty teaches our on-campus courses in one of the most culturally rich cities in the country. Many of New Orleans’ traditions have roots in the Catholic faith, and many other faith traditions are actively present in the greater New Orleans community. This leads to rich and informed dialogue among the various traditions. Loyola’s campus is situated in the Uptown neighborhood across from Audubon Park, one of the most tranquil places in the city.

Are the Institute for Ministry’s degree and certificates accredited?

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), which accredits all Loyola programs, has fully accredited our degree and certificate programs.

When are classes offered?

Classes in the fall and spring semesters are primarily held in the evening; occasionally, weekends-only classes are offered. A special intensive summer session is offered, so students have the option of taking courses year-round, summers-only, or during semesters that best fit their needs. On-campus students may also enroll in our online courses.

How do I apply to the program?

First, view the admissions requirements. Students may apply online. The application fee is waived for students using the online application.
