Nasima Khan, currently pursuing a MS in Counseling, has been awarded this year's International Student Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded each year to a student in F-1 status, with a 3.0 minimum grade point average who has demonstrated significant contributions to cultural understanding and awareness at Loyola. Financial need and academic merit are also considered. The recipient is selected by a committee of faculty, staff and students.
Alumna Catherine Geoghegan McDermott received her LPC in December 2010. She was also accepted to the doctoral program at the University of New Orleans.
The Counseling Research Excellence Award is presented to the graduate counseling student who has demonstrated excellence in research. During her time at Loyola, Stephanie has given several presentations, including: Applying wellness to adolscents: A personal growth group; Adapting filial therapy/CPRT model; and Adolescents and risky behaviors: Preventing negative lifestyle.
<p>Dr. Ebrahim presented with current master's students Ari Evans and Alison Philips at the Louisiana Career Development Association’s annual conference in Baton Rouge last month. The subject matter was <em>Recognizing the Impact of Group Dynamics in Classroom and Supervision Settings.</em></p>
Viveca Johnson is graduating in May of this year and looking forward to starting her career as a counselor. I spoke to her about her hopes for the future and her advice for new students.
Alumna Kellie Gorgio Camelford is working towards licensure and was accepted to the doctoral program at the University of New Orleans. Kellie is employed as a school counselor at Cabrini High School.
